Two Hunt County Men Arrested by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office After Drugs Discovered During Traffic Stop

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Hunt County men on Monday after discovering drugs during a traffic stop.

HCSO initiated a search of the vehicle after detecting a strong smell of marijuana while making contact with the driver. A bag of marijuana was in clear view within the car and the passenger was found to be attempting to conceal marijuana in his mouth.

The driver, John David Sampson of Greenville, was found to be wanted in on a warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

A bag containing 2.1 grams of methamphetamine was also discovered during the probable cause search. Sampson was arrested for an additional count of Possession of a Controlled Substance along with the existing warrant and taken into custody and transported to Hopkins County Jail.

A hypodermic needle that the passenger claimed ownership of was also found. The passenger, a Caddo Mills man, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
