Death of Greenville Kindergarten Teacher Stella Gonzalez Ruled a Suicide

On December 13th at approximately 11:00 am, a Hispanic female, who was later identified as Stella Gonzales, was found deceased on the north side of city lake number five in Greenville. The Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a suicide.

Gonzales was known to exercise near a small reservoir off of Wolfe City Drive, which locals refer to as Reservoir #5. Officers searched the area all Saturday evening, December 12th, using K-9 and never located Stella.

Gonzales’ husband posted on Facebook Sunday morning, December 13th, that video footage was found of Stella walking towards the reservoir.

A search team searched the area again Sunday morning and Gonzales was located deceased.

This is an active investigation and there is no further information at this time.

Gonzales was a Kindergarten teacher at Crockett Elementary.
